The Kona Adapter DS (with the Tube Kit) attaches the DryShield mouthpieces (autoclavable) directly to your HVE valve.

Medium DryShield mouthpiece connected to the Kona Adapter DS Kit
Kona Adapter DS, Tube Kit and DryShield mouthpiece. Everything is autoclavable
DryShield mouthpiece has a triangular hole, which connects to the notch found on the DryShield system. The Kona Adapter DS does not use this. Just slide the adapter past the hole when connecting.
Simple design. Easy to clean.
Tube Kit inserted into the HVE valve on one end and the DryShield mouthpiece and Kona Adapter DS on the other end.
All three parts separated. Tube Kit, Kona Adapter DS, and the DryShield mouthpiece (comes in 4 sizes: pedo, small. medium, and large)
The new system comes with 4 feet of tubing. I would recommend cutting it to the length you need. I have mine cut to 3 feet. It makes a noticeable difference.
A lot has changed since COVID has arrived. Can/should the tubing be autoclaved with each use? Or how do you recommend cleaning the tubing between patient uses? Should I purchase 3 or 4 adaptors so they can be autoclaved with each use? Ty
I recommend flushing (with water) and disinfecting everything between patients at a minimum. Option 2 is to autoclave just the Kona Adapter between patients. Option 3 to autoclave everything (including the tubing) between patients (this often done in hospital settings). The tubing won’t last as long if autoclaved that often though (~100 cycles or so). Another option (for option 1 and 2) is to autoclave the tubing once per week.
Do the dry-shield autoclavable mouthpiece come in small, medium, and large? Is it ok to autoclave them multiple times a day? And is it as flexible and easy to use as the isolite mouthpieces?
Is this sold as a kit, the tubing, the dry shield mouth pieces, and the adapter? if so how much? and how much would the dry shield mouth pieces be, and what’s the quantity they are sold in?
Hi! DryShield and Kona Adapter seem to work very well together. I will definitely give it a try in 2017! But for now I wonder if I can use this system even for root canal treatments. Can an x-ray be taken while DryShield is in the patient’s mouth? Happy holidays!
The rubber dam is the gold standard for root canals however for the last 3 to 4 years I have been using isolite or dry shield for all my RCTs. You can’t take an x-ray very well w an isolite it dry shield in place. I use an Apex locator RootZX to get all my working lengths so only have to take one X-ray at the end of the procedure. I hope this helps!!
I just received my kinda adapter ds in the mail. Just to be clear, all parts of the kit are autoclavable, including the tubing? If so, how many autoclave cycles do you recommend before replacing the tubing?
Does the kona adapter provide as much suction as the stand alone DS system? It sounded like you said it was about 20% weaker suction in the video. Did I hear you right?
The per use cost of the autoclavable mouthpiece is MUCH lower than the single use version 50 cents vs $2.50. I think its pretty easy to clean. Here’s a video of me cleaning the mouthpiece. https://youtu.be/hxO936gmsLs

does this come with the dryshield mouthpiece or just the adapter
No mouthpiece.
Not happy with new adapter. Straight piece – no longer angled – makes isodry mouthpiece move under its own weight. Liked the old design better….

how is the noise compare to isolite kona adapter?
Also, can I use Isolite tube kit with DS adapter?
About 20% quieter. The same tube Kit is used for both adapters.

1. Pedo, small, medium and large
2. Yes
3. Yes
Does one need to autoclave the tubing after every use?
No. 1 x week

The kit includes the tubing and Kona Adapter. The mouthpieces must be purchased from DryShield.com. They are sold in packs of 4 for $100.
I want to know if lighting is utilizing with kona adapter
There is no internal lighting
Works great. Can I just buy the Kona adaptor for the Dry Shield separately or does it have to be purchased as a kit? Thanks

A rubber dam is recommended for endo. An x-Ray can’t be taken with the DryShield in place.

Yes, all parts are autoclavable, including tubing. There’s no specific recommended number of times the tubing can be autoclaved.
I have the kona adapter for isodry. Can it be used for dryshield?
No

Yes, 20% less suction is my guesstimate.

How do I order Kona adapters for dry shield? Amazon is out.
We’ve had a surge in sales lately. They will be back on Amazon in a few days.
When will you start shipping to Vancouver BC, Canada again? Do I have other options if I want to buy it sooner?
Sorry for the wait. It should be available in a few days. Contact Kevin at evconvert74@gmail.com for more info.
is there any advantage to using the autoclavable DS to the disposable? the DS looks difficult to clean prior to sterilization.
